Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill set on Thursday, Nov. 9

MANILA, Philippines — The Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) for the fourth quarter of the year is set on Thursday, November 9.

The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) on Wednesday said the ceremonial pressing of the button will be held in Casiguran Aurora. at 8:00 a.m., while the NSED itself is scheduled at 9:00 a.m.

“Sabay-sabay tayong muling mag-Duck, Cover, and Hold,” the OCD said in a social media post on Tuesday.

“This nationwide activity was initially conceptualized during the Arroyo Administration in the aftermath of the destructive earthquake in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on 27 May 2006,” the OCD said.

The NSED will be livestreamed in the Facebook pages of the Civil Defense PH, and NDRRMC (National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council).
