MANILA, Philippines — Private sector employees in the Zamboanga Peninsula region can expect a P30 increase in their daily minimum wage starting November 12, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Tuesday.

This was in accordance with Wage Order No. RIX-22 issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – Region IX on October 16 and affirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) on October 24.

Those working in retail or service establishments with 10-30 workers will further have a P13 increase on top of their new minimum daily compensation of P368 effective February 1, 2024.

As a result, their new minimum daily wage next year will be P381.

The regional board also issued Wage Order No. RIX-DW-04, which granted an additional P600 to the monthly wage of household helpers.

“The monthly wage rate for chartered cities and first-class municipalities in the region will now be P4,600, and P4,100 for other municipalities,” DOLE’s statement read.

DOLE said that the forthcoming increase is expected to benefit 56,848 minimum wage earners in the region.

It likewise said that 121,490 full-time wage and salary workers earning above the minimum wage are expected to indirectly benefit “as a result of upward adjustments at the enterprise level arising from the correction of wage distortion.”

Meanwhile, a total of 18,984 domestic workers are also seen to benefit from the wage hike.
