PNP investigation into missing beauty queen showing significant progress
MANILA, Philippines — The investigation into the case of missing beauty queen Catherine Camilon is showing “significant progress” according to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr.
Although he did not specify details on the ongoing probe, PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. said that the developments on the case are heading in the right direction.
“May mga developments na sinubmit ang ating Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) (The CIDG submitted developments on the case). What I can say is there is significant progress on the investigation,” Acorda said in a press briefing.
“That’s why I’m appealing now to those involved to surrender,” he added.

Article continues after this advertisementEarlier, police identified a police officer as a “person of interest” in Camilon’s disappearance.
Article continues after this advertisementPNP Criminal Investigation Field Unit – Calabarzon chief Colonel Jacinto Malinao said the unnamed police officer was relieved from his post and transferred to their Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit’s custody, pending impartial and full investigation.

Meanwhile, police revealed that they are likewise looking into another “person of interest” in the case, who was the original owner of the vehicle Camilon drove when she went missing on October 12.
In the search for Camilon, authorities offered a total of P250,000 for anyone who has credible information on her whereabouts.
Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste offered P100,000 to add to the bounty, while the business sector of the PNP Calabarzon offered another P100,000.
On the other hand, the Philippine Anti-Organized Crime Commission also pledged P50,000 for critical information to solve the case.
