Four people die after a car collided with a truck along Marcos Highway in Antipolo, Rizal

MANILA, Philippines — Four people died after a car collided with a truck along Marcos Highway in Antipolo, Rizal province, early Monday morning, police said.

Antipolo Police Chief Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo identified the victims as Juanito Magsino 22; Kidrock John Magsino, 21; Lawrence Ivan Jose, 21; and Ireneo Balmonte, 22.

Manongdo said in a statement that Juanito was driving the sedan that rammed into the back of a cargo truck at 3 a.m. on Monday, in front of a gasoline station in Barangay Mayamot.

“Ayon sa paunang imbestigasyon, parehong nasa ikalawang linya ng kalsada ang dalawang sasakyan, patungong kanluran, papunta sa direksyon ng Sta. Lucia Grand Mall. Ang sasakyan na Honda Civic ay bumangga sa likod ng sasakyan na Isuzu Wingvan Truck,” the Antipolo Police chief said.

(According to the preliminary investigation, both vehicles were on the second lane of the road, heading west, going in the direction of Sta. Lucia Grand Mall. The vehicle Honda Civic collided with the rear of the vehicle Isuzu Wingvan Truck.)

Truck driver Glen Gumban was unharmed, Manongdo added.

Further investigation is underway.

Police appealed to drivers to observe traffic rules at all times to ensure public safety.
