LTFRB chair Guadiz expresses gratitude to President after reinstatement

MANILA, Philippines — Teofilo Guadiz III expressed his gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Sunday after being reinstated as Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chairperson.

In a statement, Guadiz thanked the chief executive for his decision, which was announced through a special order signed by Department of Transportation chief Jaime Bautista.

“I am truly honored and humbled by the trust and confidence that President Marcos has placed in me to continue serving our nation in this capacity,” Bautista said.

“I pledge to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and efficiency in leading the LTFRB. We will work tirelessly to address the pressing issues and challenges in the transportation sector, striving to improve the lives of the Filipino people by providing safe, reliable, and accessible public transportation services,” he added.

Meanwhile, the designation of LTFRB member Mercy Paras Leynes as the agency’s officer-in-charge last month was likewise repealed.

Last October 9, Guadiz was suspended by Marcos after his former executive assistant, Jeffrey Tumbado, accused him of being involved in a “lagayan (bribe) scheme.”

Later, Tumbado recanted his allegations, saying they were  “borne out of impulse, irrational thinking, poor decision making, and misjudgment.”

On October 20, however, Tumbado reaffirmed his recanted allegations that cleared Guadiz’s name.
