Fire hits 3 residential areas, injures 7 people in Sampaloc, Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Three fire incidents swept through various residential areas in Sampaloc, Manila, on Wednesday, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.

The first fire injured three firemen, the BFP said. It occurred at Sisa Street in Sampaloc, Manila.

According to the BFP, the firefighters got abrasions and lacerations from the incident.

Upon responding to the fire, authorities raised its first alarm at 12:39 p.m. It reached the second alarm and was then put off at 2:21 p.m.

The agency noted that the fire damaged three establishments, with one being damaged. Around 15 families, with more or less 30 individuals, are affected. Its estimated damage amounted to over P1.6 million.

The BFP reported that the fire started on the second floor of a two-story house made of light materials. The cause of the fire, on the other hand, remains under investigation.

At 2:58 p.m., authorities also responded to a fire in Mindoro Street, Sampaloc, Manila.

The BFP said the fire started on the third floor of a three-story residential building. The first alarm was raised, and the incident was declared “fire out” at 3:21 p.m.

The fire partially gutted the building where it originated, the agency noted. Its estimated damage amounted to P120,000. A family with around 10 individuals was also affected.

No injuries were reported from this fire, but its cause remains under investigation, according to the BFP.

The third fire transpired in Alfredo Street, Barangay 342, Sampaloc, Manila, the BFP said.

Although the first alarm was raised at 6:06 p.m., and the fire was immediately put off at 6:13 p.m., the agency noted that the incident injured four civilians.

Three suffered burns on their feet, while one had a bump on her head.

According to the BFP, a lit candle caused an open flame to the ignition of a leaking liquefied petroleum gas. The fire damaged the three-story building where it occurred.
