10 outstanding Boy Scouts awarded scholarships, cash
MANILA, Philippines — A two-year college scholarship, cash, and other prizes have been awarded to this year’s winners of the Ten Outstanding Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), an annual competition that serves as the highlight of Scouting Month, a monthlong celebration of the BSP’s founding anniversary on Oct. 31.
The awardees were John Jazper R. Luna (BSP Manila Council), Jason Paul G. Mendez (Negros Occidental), Johann Sebastian Capanas (Cebu), Jedryc Romero (San Pablo City), Hannah Angela A. Arribas (Cebu), Queen Marjorie Arroyo (Batangas), Samantha Lorraine Jauco (Tarlac), Ethan Michael Aguirre (Quezon City), Alester Galieto Jude Capacio (Zamboanga Sibugay) and JP Nelson M. Sumando (Surigao del Norte).
They were picked from hundreds of candidates from 124 BSP councils nationwide after a search that started in July and culminated in the awarding ceremony held last week.

The winners were chosen based on their community service, scholastic leadership, character development and bearing skills and a panel interview to test their communication and personality skills.
