MANILA, Philippines — Four weather systems will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain to the country on Tuesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

State weather specialist Patrick del Mundo said that the low-pressure area (LPA), northeast monsoon (locally known as amihan), shear line (or the convergence of warm and cool winds), and localized thunderstorms will affect the country’s weather conditions throughout the day.

Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaripa (Mindoro Occidental, Mindoro Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), Quezon, and Aurora may expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the shear line and trough or extension of the LPA.

“Ito namang LPA na ating binabantayan [ay] huling namataan sa layong 470 kilometers sa may silangan ng Virac, Catanduanes, at nananatiling mababa ‘yung tiyansa nito na maging isang bagyo within the next 48 hours,” del Mundo said.

(This LPA that we are monitoring [was] last spotted at a distance of 470 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes and the chance of it becoming a typhoon within the next 48 hours remains low.)

The LPA has a high chance of dissipating once it moves closer to the Bicol region, he said.

The state weather bureau added that partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains caused by amihan are expected over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon.

Pagasa furthered that the same weather system will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.

Del Mundo said that no gale warning alert is raised in any parts of the archipelago’s seaboards.
