TAGBILARAN CITY — At least 96 detainees in this city voted Monday for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

Jail Officer 3 Gina Sumampong, information officer of the city jail, said it was the first time in 10 years that detainees voted in the village and youth polls in accordance with the 2022 decision from the Supreme Court (SC).

She said the Commission on Elections (Comelec) city office was allowed to set up a polling precinct inside the jail.

Of the 96 who voted, 76 were men and 20 were women.

The polls for PDLs started at 6 a.m. and ended at 9 a.m.

“It was a peaceful election in this jail,” said Sumampong.
