MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday reported that 51 violators of liquor ban were apprehended nationwide amid the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE).
PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. said a total of 51 individuals in various parts of the country have so far violated the ban enforced by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Sunday, October 29.
“The liquor ban, in effect since yesterday and lasting until midnight today (October 30), is being actively enforced,” Acorda said in a press briefing.

Citing Comelec Resolution No. 10905, Acorda said locals should adhere to the liquor ban, which prohibits the selling, drinking, and distribution of alcoholic beverages in public places.

Earlier, Comelec advised locals with liquor to drink them at home until the October 30 polls end.
