MMDA deploys 1,448 traffic enforcers for Undas

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has deployed around 1,450 traffic enforcers for the upcoming All Saints’ Day or Undas.

According to MMDA Traffic Enforcement Group Victor Nuñez, MMDA authorities have made the rounds in selected provincial terminals, and besides having enforcers at their posts, they also deployed street sweepers in cemeteries in Metro Manila.

“Since Thursday ay nag-ikot na ho kami sa mga selected provincial terminals and ang MMDA po, aside from na-deploy na 1,448 na traffic enforcers, ay mayroon din ho kaming mga dineploy na mga Metro Park Clearing Group.  Ito po iyong mga street sweepers na dineploy po sila sa five major cemeteries dito sa buong Kalakhang Maynila,” Nuñez said.

(Since Thursday, we have been making the rounds in selected provincial terminals, and the MMDA has deployed 1,448 traffic enforcers. Besides that, we have deployed street sweepers in five major cemeteries in Metro Manila.)

Nuñez added that the MMDA has dedicated a Road Emergency Group to respond to accidents on major highways.

“Also, we have Road Emergency Group – naka-preposition po iyong mga ambulance and road emergency vehicles just in case may mga aksidente, iyong mga vehicles na iyon ay may mga extrication equipment na naka-preposition po sa mga major thoroughfares.”

(Also, we have the Road Emergency Group, ambulance, and road emergency vehicles with extrication equipment prepositioned in major thoroughfares in case of accidents.)

The official also reminded the public to make necessary time arrangements when traveling to the provinces as bus terminals, ports, and airports experience heavy traffic due to the volume of people going to their provinces.

“Paalala natin sa publiko – make sure that you have enough time or leeway kung kayo ay pupunta sa pantalan, sa mga bus terminals and airports kasi ho talaga sa dami ng mga umuwi ngayon, we would expect na talagang tutukod ang traffic lalung-lalo na doon sa malalapit sa airports and bus terminals,” Nuñez said.

(We remind the public to make sure that they have enough time or leeway if heading to ports, bus terminals, and airports as there will be many travelers going to the provinces. We expect heavy traffic, especially on the roads near airports and bus terminals.)
