MANILA, Philippines – The number coding scheme will be lifted in the entire Metro Manila on Labor Day, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority MMDA said on Monday.
MMDA said the coding scheme is automatically lifted metro-wide every time the country observes a regular holiday. Labor Day this year falls on Tuesday.
Under the number coding scheme, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 3 and 4 are barred from major thoroughfares of Metro Manila from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m every Tuesday.
But MMDA warned motorists against going to places where rallies are expected to be held on Labor Day.
In a text message to INQUIRER.net, MMDA spokesperson Alu Dorotan said motorists should avoid “rally areas such as Liwasang Bonifacio, Plaza Miranda, Mendiola, and areas near the Nagtahan Bridge.”
