MANILA, Philippines — Ateneo de Manila senior high school student Christian Xavier Algenio, who reportedly went missing on October 23, returned home on Tuesday evening, according to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
Based on a report on Wednesday, QCPD said its personnel received information and confirmed that the 16-year-old student already reappeared at his home around 10 p.m.
INQUIRER.net asked QCPD if investigators already received an explanation of where Algenio went and why he disappeared for over a day, but it has yet to reply as of posting time.
Citing its records, police said Algenio allegedly went missing around 4:30 p.m. on Monday in UP Town Center, where he was supposed to meet his sister at 6 p.m.
Unable to contact Algenio, his parents sought the help of Anonas Police Station around 11:30 p.m., prompting its operatives to backtrack CCTV cameras in the student’s school, nearby areas, and roads leading to UP Town Center.
Police said backtracking ended in a barber shop where Algenio entered. Around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, his parents reported him as a missing person, raising a general alarm in all stations of the National Capital Region Police Office.
The QCPD likewise formed a tracker team and found the student’s SIM card location at Calumpang and La Trinidad Pension House, V. Gomez St. Barangay San Roque, Marikina City, around 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
However, he was not found in any of the areas but returned home later in the evening.
