MANILA, Philippines—Four people, including two children, were killed in an hour-long fire that hit their home in Taguig City Sunday, a city fire official said Monday.
Fire Officer 2 Florante Aquino identified the victims as Marcus Benito, 45; Michael Ortillano, 22; Maria Leila Dena, 4; and Jared Lance Dena, 2.
Aquino said the victims were burned alive after getting trapped inside their blazing house along No. 34 Macapagal Street, Barangay (village) Pinagsama in Taguig City. The two children, he said, had the worse condition among them.
The fire that started at 5:35 p.m., Aquino said, may have been caused by a leaking liquefied petroleum gas tank. It reached the first alarm before it was completely put out at 6:25 p.m.
Aquino said Tirso Ortillano, 72, was wounded after sustaining second degree burns in his body. Jamie Marie Elona
