The lower chamber recently decided to reallocate P1.23 billion worth of confidential funds from certain government institutions to agencies involved in the country’s security.

Fernandez noted that one of the biggest criticisms that the House received was from former President Rodrigo Duterte, who “vehemently rebuked” the House after his daughter, Vice President and concurrent Education Secretary o Sara Duterte lost P650 million in 2024 confidential funds.

The said budget was requested for the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).

This criticism occurred even after the younger Duterte already said that the OVP and DepEd would survive without the requested confidential funds, the lawmaker added.
