LUCENA CITY — A pedestrian and a tricycle driver died in separate road accidents in Batangas province on Saturday, October 21, police said.

The Batangas police reported Sunday that Apolinario Amurao, 59, was accidentally bumped by a motorcycle driven by Jerryme Silva in Barangay (village) Poblacion West at around 8:50 p.m.

Amurao was crossing the national highway in Alitagtag town when the incident happened.

Upon impact, motorcycle passenger Angelo Dujapa was thrown off and landed on the rear portion of a jeep parked on the side of the road.

The pedestrian and the two riders sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital but Amurao died while undergoing treatment.

The police are conducting further investigation.

In Lemery town, Jayzel Serwelas, 34, was driving a tricycle along the national highway in Barangay Bukal at around 8:45 a.m. when it was hit from behind by a car driven by Jay Ar Matriano.

Due to the strong impact of the collision, the side wheel of the tricycle hit the gutter, causing the vehicle to turn around and throw off Serwelas. The tricycle driver hit his head on the pavement and died while being taken to the Batangas Provincial Hospital.
