THE 8TH PMS Chess Club Tabunok Fiesta Open Chessfest will be the first of several chess tournaments that will be held in Cebu in the coming weeks.
The tournament, a class B and 16-under event, will start tomorrow at the second floor of the Gaisano Grand Mall in Tabunok, Talisay City.
The other chess tournaments coming are the Mayor Celestino “Junie” Martinez Jr. Open Chess Tournament in Bogo City this May 19 and 20 at the Bogo City Plaza, the Cebu City Sportsfest chess tournament at the Cebu City Sports Center, and the Tuburan Siglakas Chess Tournament on June 2 and 3 at the Tuburan Town plaza. The Cebu City chess grassroots program will also resume today.
The PMS tournament will use a seven-round Swiss system format. Registration fee is pegged at P100. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
