MANILA, Philippines — The eastern portion of southern Luzon will see overcast skies with scattered rain showers caused by shear line, the state weather bureau said on Thursday.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), shear line is the convergence of northeasterly wind flow and warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.

(Due to the northeasterly wind flow and the warm air from the Pacific Ocean, there is a forming shear line that is directed toward the eastern part of southern Luzon, and frequent rains are expected throughout the day.)

The state weather bureau added that Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, and Aurora will continue to experience cloudy skies with rains brought by the northeasterly windflow.

(Heavy rain or mist will be experienced in the rest of northern and central Luzon.)

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country brought by localized thunderstorms.

The state weather agency did not raise any gale warning alerts in parts of the country’s seaboard.
