GOVERNMENT organizations are counting on responsible parenthood development as one of the most effective solutions to alleviate poverty in the country.

Evelyn Macapobre, regional director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and lawyer Bruce Ragas, acting regional director of the Commission on Population (Popcom)  officially sealed their agencies’ partnership in the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

They will work together to create behavioral changes in families living below the poverty threshold through education and health assistance.

The 4Ps is a poverty reduction and social development strategy carried on from the Arroyo administration that provides conditional cash grants to extremely poor households to improve their health, nutrition and education particularly of children whose ages range from 0 to 14.

Aside from the established conditions that 4P beneficiaries must comply with to continue receiving their cash transfers, families are now also required to attend Family Development Sessions facilitated by LGU heads trained by Popcom officials. /Correspondent Patricia Andrea Pateña
