LUCENA CITY — A pedestrian and a motorcyclist died in separate road accidents in Quezon province on Saturday and Sunday, police said.

Motorcycle rider Rico Abrigo, 37, was negotiating a curved section of the road in Barangay (village) San Jose in General Luna town around 12:15 a.m. Sunday, October 15, when he lost control of the vehicle, the Quezon police said in a report.

The wayward motorcycle consequently crashed into the steel railing on the roadside and thrown off the rider.

Abrigo, a farmer, suffered fatal injuries and was taken to a rural health center in the town center but was declared dead on arrival.

The report indicated that the fatality was not wearing a crash helmet for protection which is required by the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
