THE Alayon party of Rep. Eduardo Gullas of Cebu’s 1st district is ready to forge alliances with other groups for next year’s elections.
In a phone interview, Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, 27-year-old grandson of Congressman Gullas, said the family will “open our arms to all possibilities if only to strengthen Alayon for the benefit of the whole group.”
“We’ll reach out to the opposition, to anyone but with one condition that our goal and vision is for Talisay City and the whole district to move forward,” he told Cebu Daily News.
Samsam is being groomed to run for Talisay City mayor or congressman.
He is the assitant vice president for finance and administration of the family-owned University of the Visayas and basketball team manager of the UV Green Lancers.
Samsam said his grandfather, Eduardo, who’s on his third and last term, is contemplating on three options.
One is to run for mayor in Talisay City. The second is to help Samsam and Samsam’s father, Gerard Anthony “Didi” Gullas in their respective bids.
The third option is to help manage the family-owned University of the Visayas (UV).
Samsam denied reports that Rep. Gullas transferred his voter’s registration to Minglanilla town so that he could run for mayor there.
The first district covers the cities of Talisay, Carcar and Naga and the towns of San Fernando, Minglanilla and Sibonga.Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
