PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — A resident in Bataraza town Palawan province was hurt but survived after a crocodile attacked him on Tuesday, police report said on Wednesday, Oct. 11.

The Palawan police reported that Oyong Pailon Miranda, 69, was taking a bath in Pinuwasan river just a few meters behind his house in Barangay Sumbiling when the crocodile suddenly appeared and attacked him at 5:40 p.m.

Miranda suffered bite wounds in his right leg but was able to escape.

Responding barangay rescue personnel immediately took Miranda to the nearest hospital for treatment. He received 13 stiches to close his wounds, the report said.

Sumbiling barangay council member Saramhel Armal said the crocodile was more than two meters long.

“He (Miranda) did not notice that there was a crocodile where he went to bathe and all of a sudden, it attacked him,” Armal said.

This is the second reported incident of crocodile attack in the province in October.
