RAFFY Banua of Zamboanga City pummeled fellow Zamboangeño Nelson Sandal in the 58-kilogram division of last Friday’s Summit Amateur Boxing Series Fight Night in Lapu-Lapu City during the city’s annual “Kadaugan sa Mactan” celebration.
Banua won via unanimous decision, 3-0, in his showdown against Sandal while Gerald Suico of Mandaue City won over Martin Cordova of Bago City in the 52kg division.
Rolando Lingaw-lingaw of Marang, Bukidnon outgunned Raul Yu of Talamban Cebu also in the 52kg division while Richard Barrios of Bais City escaped Mabolo’s Christian Bacolod, 2-1 in the same division.
Other winners: Polid Banal of Cabancalan, Mandaue who crushed Marvin Lulu of Talamban, 3-0 (48kg); University of Visayas’ Bryan Remedio who beat Ferde San Roque of Mandaue (47kg); Ryan Dungog who scored a “Referee Stopped Contest” (RSC) win over Richard Quilatan of Mandaue City in the 1:10 mark of the second round (47kg); Marco Pumar of Talisay City who beat Raymund Rama of the Philippine Australia Boxing Club (38kg); Rama’s younger brother Richard who defeated Kevin Nemenzo of Escalante (36kg) and Talisay City’s Marvin Pumar who beat Vicente Seos-e Jr of Mandaue (32kg). /CORRESPONDENT DALE G.
