Transportation chief names Mercy Leynes as LTFRB OIC

MANILA, Philippines — Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista on Tuesday named Atty. Mercy Leynes as the officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) following the suspension of Teofilo Guadiz III amid allegations of corruption.

Prior to her appointment, Leynes served as a member of the LTFRB board.

Leynes will serve as the LTFRB’s OIC until October 9, 2024.

“As such, she shall perform and discharge all the functions and responsibilities of the office, unless otherwise earlier amended or superseded,” Bautista said in a special order on Tuesday.

Guadiz was suspended by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. after former senior executive assistant Jeffrey Tumbado exposed alleged corrupt activities happening within the board.

Bautista for his part has already ordered Guadiz to explain the irregularities and corruption allegations plaguing the LTFRB.
