MANILA, Philippines — A tropical storm and a low pressure area (LPA) near the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) are being monitored, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Sunday.
In its daily weather report, Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said that Tropical Storm Bolaven was last spotted 3,045 kilometers east of Visayas.
It carries sustained winds of 65 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, Villamil added.
Meanwhile, Estareja said the low pressure area was located 1,505 km east of Visayas. It is forecast to enter the PAR by Tuesday.
“But the LPA is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression even if it already enters PAR,” he said.
These two weather disturbances will likely bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms on Monday.
Pagasa warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides during said thunderstorms, which often come due to heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusts of wind, and sometimes hail.
