MANILA, Philippines — The right of way acquisition of properties affected by the Edsa Greenways Projects is already halfway complete, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) reported.
The Edsa Greenways Projects is a five-kilometer elevated walkway along the Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (Edsa). It will traverse through Balintawak, Cubao, Guadalupe, and Taft Avenue.
“A total of 3,064 sq. meters out of 5,657 sq. meters or 54.16% of property have been acquired for the project,” DOTr said in a press release on Friday.
According to the DOTr, it has already approved resettlement action plans in all stations covering the project.
At least 148 individuals affected by the project have also been enrolled in the Department of Labor and Employment’s Livelihood Assistance Program, the DOTr shared.
The department said it has been expediting the processing of documents for the acquisition.
According to the department’s Secretary Jaime Bautista during a budget hearing in September, the project will start in June 2024, while its completion is targeted by February 2027.
Once completed, DOTr said the project will promote the use of public transportation as it will connect pedestrians and commuters to mass transit stations.
