MANILA, Philippines — ABS-CBN has decided not to appeal the 12-day suspension meted out by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to its noontime show “It’s Showtime.”

“After careful consideration, ABS-CBN has decided not to appeal to the Office of the President the decision of the MTRCB on ‘It’s Showtime’ and instead serve the 12-day suspension starting October 14,” it said in a statement Friday.

However, it insisted that the show did not break any pertinent laws.

“We respect the authority of the MTRCB, but we humbly maintain that the program did not break any pertinent laws,” it added.

On September 4, the MTRCB issued a 12-day suspension to the show for alleged indecent acts of its hosts. The suspension will begin on October 14.

The MTRCB also denied the motion for reconsideration filed by the production team of ABS-CBN’s “It’s Showtime” and GMA on September 28.

ABS-CBN also thanked the viewers of the noontime show, and said that the show will return “stronger and better than ever.”

“Our heartfelt thanks to our viewers for their unwavering love and support for “It’s Showtime,” which will return on Oct. 28 stronger and better than ever,” it said.
