MANILA, Philippines — The government is set to launch the country’s first-ever “Green Justice Zone” in Puerto Princesa City next month.

Members of the Justice Sector Coordinating Council (JSCC) led by Supreme Court Associate Justice Maria Filomena Singh have met with Palawan Gov. Dennis Socrates and Puerto Princesa Mayor Lucilo Bayron and discussed preparations for the unveiling of the Green Justice Zone in the province’s capital city on November 10.

Its establishment is part of the justice sector’s initiative to set up the so-called Justice Zones nationwide. The Green Justice Zone in Palawan City would be the 12th Justice Zone in the country.

Also part of the JSCC contingent during the September 27 meeting were Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Michael Frederick Musngi and Court of Appeals Associate Justice Jaime Fortunato Caringal.

The JSCC was created on April 30, 2010, to serve as a joint forum for dialogue on issues of common interest and a mechanism for effective coordination and sharing of information in support of planning and implementation of joint initiatives among justice sector institutions. It is composed of the Supreme Court, Department of Justice, and Department of the Interior and Local Government, among others.
