MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Jenny (international name: Koinu) has slightly intensified, while storm signals remain in effect over parts of the Ilocos region and Cagayan Valley, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Wednesday afternoon.
In its 5:00 p.m, update, Pagasa said the center of the typhoon was spotted some 155 kilometers north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes and with an increased maximum sustained wind speed of from 150 kilometers per hour (kph) to 155 kph and gusts of from 185 kph earlier to 190 kph.
Pagasa added that Jenny will enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat” and trigger rains and gusty conditions in Aurora, Bataan, Metro Manila, Occidental Mindoro, Kalayaan Islands, Romblon, most parts of the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) and Bicol regions.
