MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck near Dalupiri Island, in Calayan, Cagayan at 11:35 a.m. on Wednesday, state seismologists said.
The quake had a depth of 17 kilometers and was tectonic in origin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In a phone interview with INQUIRER.net, Phivolcs Science Research Analyst Lara Guianan said that aftershocks were already recorded, but their location and intensity are still being verified.
“As of now wala pa pong reported damage,” she added.
