MANILA., Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday said that he instructed House Speaker Martin Romualdez to create a program with National Capital Region (NCR) lawmakers that will give rice aid to the poor.
The said program will be under 33 Metro Manila lawmakers, said Marcos.
“Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘We have to do something for NCR’. Kaya’t nagbubuo ang House of Representatives ng isang programa na para sa mga NCR congressmen. There are 33 NCR congressmen,” said Marcos in an ambush interview in Taguig City.
“Ngayon, ang gagawin is the 33 NCR congressmen will be giving the assistance na — magbibigay tayo ng bigas doon sa iba’t ibang area dito sa Metro Manila, dito sa NCR.”
(I told him, ‘We have to do something for NCR.’ That is why the House of Representatives will have a program with the NCR congressmen. There are 33 NCR congressmen. Now, what the 33 NCR congressmen will be doing is giving assistance, we will give rice in different areas here in Metro Manila.)
This comes shortly after Marcos announced the lifting of the rice price ceiling.
“We are also concentrating on the NCR because that is where the prices are most volatile and are highest,” Marcos explained.
