MANILA, Philippines — Filipino-Indian businessman filed a complaint for perjury against his older brother before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office for failure to disclose that an existing complaint was already withdrawn following a compromise agreement.
In his complaint, Rajiv Chandiramani alleged that his brother Amith “made a willful and deliberate assertion of falsehood under oath on material matters required by law.”
Amith allegedly filed a complaint for falsification of a public document against him based on similar circumstances of a complaint previously withdrawn and the execution of a compromise agreement.
The agreement provided a waiver and quitclaim covering any and all potential claims or rights against each other, which include cases involving the estate of their late father. Part of the agreement is a consideration of P150 million by way of support.

“Amith lied when he certified under oath that he has ‘not commenced any action or filed any claim involving the same issues in any court, tribunal or quasi-judicial agency’ and that he violated his undertaking to ‘report that fact to the Honorable Office within five days from knowledge thereof,’” Rajiv said in his complaint affidavit.
Amith’s complaint was filed May, 2023 before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) who, then referred the case to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
He alleged that respondents Rajiv, their mother Pushpa and several others conspired with each other through “deceit and machination” to deprive him of his inheritance from their father, Prem.
The complaint is currently pending before the Department of Justice.
