MANILA, Philippines — With an unwavering resolve to honor the memory of Percival “Percy Lapid” Mabasa, who died a year ago, his brother continues pursuing justice for Percy’s sake.
Lapid was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen on October 3, 2022, on his way to his house in Las Piñas.
“The family stands united in our call for swift justice to ensure that those responsible for this loss are held accountable,” Roy Mabasa said on Tuesday.

After Percy’s death, Roy became the new host of the show “Lapid Fire,” formerly hosted by his brother.
Roy also invited the public to honor Percy’s memory by advocating a “fair and transparent legal process.”

“Let us honor Ka Percy’s memory by advocating for a fair and transparent legal process that brings closure to his family and friends. May his legacy serve as a reminder that justice must prevail in our society,” he added.
In October 2022, Joel Escorial confessed as the gunman behind the incident in a press conference with Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. and members of the police. In August, Escorial requested a plea bargain with the Las Piñas Regional Trial Court Branch 254.
