MANILA, Philippines — Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents arrested an American citizen in General Santos City for overstaying in the Philippines for five years.
The BI’s Intelligence Deputy Chief for Mindanao, Melody Penelope Gonzales, said Vladislav Igorevich Black, 36, was nabbed on Friday, September 29, after receiving a report that he had been working in that province as a bus dispatcher.
Black has been illegally staying in the Philippines since 2018, according to the bureau.
The BI said Black’s arrest was conducted with the assistance of provincial authorities and the Philippine National Police.
In an interview with agents, Black claimed he could not renew his visa because of financial distress, the bureau disclosed.
Black will be brought to the BI’s holding facility in Taguig City.
