The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over Batanes as Severe Tropical Storm “Jenny” (international name: Koinu) further intensified on Sunday afternoon.
According to its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, Jenny was located 760 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan, packing winds of 100 km per hour and gusts of up to 125 kph.
It is moving northwestward at 15 kph and forecast to turn westward by Tuesday afternoon.

A landfall or close approach scenario over the extreme northern Luzon may also take place, the weather bureau added.
Due to the weather disturbance, the state weather bureau said Batanes will likely remain under Signal No. 1 until Tuesday.
Rainfall of up to 25 millimeters will also prevail over mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Quezon including Polillo Islands, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar and Eastern Samar from Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon.
Jenny is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday afternoon or evening. INQ
