 Taal Volcano update

MANILA, Philippines —  Three volcanic earthquakes in Taal Volcano were detected over the last 24 hours while Alert Level 1 is still in effect, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported on Sunday.

The earthquakes recorded from September 30 to October 1 were accompanied by one volcanic tremor which lasted five minutes, Phivolcs added.

The recent data is lower than the six volcanic quakes, including five volcanic tremors, logged from September 29 to 30.

In its latest update, Phivolcs also reported a decrease in sulfur dioxide emission from 3,793 metric tons on Saturday to 1,902 metric tons on Sunday.

There is, however,  an upwelling of hot volcanic fluid in Main Crater Lake, causing thin vog.
