MANILA, Philippines — Ten students from Tondo and Navotas schools went on an educational trip to Baguio to learn about cultural and historical heritage.

Under the project “Lakbay Aral Sa Baguio,” Filipino world travelers from the Philippine Global Explorers (PGE), as well as non-profit organizations Purple Community Fund and Upskills Foundation, supported the youth’s trip from August 28-31.

“Through this collaboration, the students were given the opportunity to see masterpieces of national artist Benedicto Cabrera at the BenCab Museum and learned about the indigenous culture of the Bontoc, Kalinga, Ifugao, Ibaloi and other ethnic groups of the Cordillera Administrative Region at the Museo Kordilyera,” PGE said in a statement Sunday.

“The itinerary included visits to Camp John Hay, Arca’s Yard, Tam-Awan Village, Lourdes Grotto, Baguio Museum, Session Road, Mines View Park, Burnham Park, Botanical Garden, and Wright’s Park,” it added.

According to PGE, the project is its first initiative incorporating travel and education for Filipino youth as it celebrates its 4th founding anniversary. The program likewise supports PGE’s objective of “advocating the preservation of Philippine cultural and historical heritage.”

Aside from visiting museums and tourist spots, students attended writing and photography seminars led by PGE volunteers.

PGE said another batch of 50 students of the Upskills Foundation and Purple Community Fund are scheduled to visit Marikina’s Book Museum cum Ethnology Center for an educational day trip.
