BFP says Valenzuela warehouse fire doused after 2 days and displaced 819 people

MANILA, Philippines — The fire that struck a storage facility in Bagbaguin, Valenzuela City was finally put out on Saturday night, the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) said.

Firemen tried to control the blaze for two days as it started Thursday afternoon (September 28), reaching first alarm at 12:30 p.m. and seventh alarm or Task Force Bravo at 3:40 p.m.

Firefighter doused the inferno at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, authorities said.

In a report on Sunday, the BFP said eight of its personnel and a civilian were injured while 819 individuals or 219 families were displaced due to the fire. It also indicated that the warehouse owned by Herco Trading Inc. contained hardware and houseware supplies.

The affected residents of the area are being temporarily sheltered in Andres Mariano Elementary School, Paso de Blas 3S Center Multi-Purpose Hall, Pedro L. Santiago Elementary School, and Canumay East 3S Covered Court, the report added.

Fire authorities are still conducting damage assessment to determine the cost of the devastation as of this writing.
