Pagasa warns of floods in parts of PH due to rains, thunderstorms

MANILA, Philippines —  Though Tropical Storm Jenny (international name: Koinu) is not expected to directly affect the country, some parts of the country may experience flooding due to light to moderate rains and thunderstorms, the state weather bureau said on Saturday.

According to an advisory of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the following rivers and tributaries may flood:

Region IV-B (Mimaropa)

Palawan – Abongan, Lian, Barbakan, Rizal, Caramay, Langogan, Babuyan, Bacungan, Iwahig Penal, Inagauan, Aborlan, Malatgao, Apurauan, Baton-Baton, Aramaywan, Ihawig, Panitian, Pulot, Lamakan, Kinlugan, Eraan, Tiga Plan, Malabangan, Ilog, Bansang, Conduaga, Culasian, Iwahig (Brookes), Okayan, Canipaan and Busuanga, Coron

The agency also told people living on mountain slopes and low-lying areas as well as their disaster reduction and management councils to take necessary precautionary measures.
