INQUIRER.net continued to be the most visited local news website as of August 2023, based on data from web traffic analytics firm Similarweb.
As of that month, INQUIRER.net received a total of 107,193,032 web visits this year.
It sits at the top of the rankings of local news websites analyzed by Similarweb. Coming in second was GMA Network with 68,180,147 total web visits in the same period.
Philstar.com had 66,405,631 total web visits, followed by Rappler with 55,177,343 and ABS-CBN News with 42,079,200.
INQUIRER.net also saw the highest number of page visits in each month from January to August, consistently receiving over 11 million per month, with the most web traffic recorded in May with a total of 15,580,225. GMA reached its highest number at 11,538,343 in January, but failed to pass the 10-million mark in all the months that followed.
The other outfits recorded their highest web traffic below 10 million: Philstar with 9,748,163 in May; Rappler with 7,913,613 in January; and ABS-CBN with 6,085,505 in May.
Among the most-visited domains in the country—where INQUIRER.net ranked the first among local news outfits—INQUIRER.net placed 38th overall.
INQUIRER.net began tapping the data analytics services of Similarweb in February 2022 for online traffic monitoring and guidance in content and publication strategies.
Inquirer Interactive Inc. chair and president Paolo Prieto earlier said the partnership with Similarweb stemmed from the company’s desire to stay on top, which requires tools from a globally accepted ranking application.
Apart from providing data analytics and monitoring online traffic, Similarweb offers other benefits that can help INQUIRER.net stay competitive in terms of content delivery and traffic generation.
Among them is being able to “make strategic decisions based on the most comprehensive, real-time view of competitive activity across all digital platforms.”
