Pagasa watching 2 weather systems

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported on Thursday that two low pressure areas (LPAs) have developed in the Pacific Ocean and may affect the country. According to its Thursday bulletin, the LPA inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), last sighted 800 kilometers east of northern Luzon, may dissipate within 24 hours. The other LPA outside PAR was last seen 1,850 km east of southeastern Luzon. While still far from the PAR, the trough of the nearer LPA will dump rain in the Visayas and parts of Mindanao, the state weather bureau added. The state weather bureau is also monitoring the possibility of the weather disturbance developing into a typhoon in the next few days. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to affect the western sections of southern Luzon and Visayas with rains. —ABBY BOISER
