MANILA, Philippines — Senior citizens from “Embo” barangays formerly under the jurisdiction of Makati City who will turn 100 years old will now receive a P100,000 incentive from Taguig City.
Maura Agripa, 100 years, from Barangay Southside who celebrated her birthday last September 26, was the first to receive the cash incentive from Taguig.
“(Si Lola Maura) ang kauna-unahang sentenaryo sa EMBO na nakatanggap ng cash gift na ito,” Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano said Thursday.
[Lola Maura is the first centenarian from the EMBO to receive this cash gift.]
Senior citizens who are not yet centenarians will also receive P3,000 to P10,000 on their birth anniversary.
The “Embo” barangays were previously part of the second congressional district of Makati and the subject of a dispute with Taguig.
The Supreme Court has already ruled with finality that Parcels 3 and 4, Psu 2031, comprising Fort Bonifacio, including the so-called Inner Fort made up of Barangays Pembo, Comembo, Cembo, South Cembo, West Rembo, East Rembo and Pitogo are part of the city of Taguig.
