Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Thursday said that he is willing to stay with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. until the end.

MANILA, Philippines — Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Thursday said that he is willing to stay with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. until the end.

In an interview on “Tune in Kay Tuning,” Bersamin said that Marcos asked him if he was willing to go until the very end.

“I will serve you for as long as I am useful to you and for as long as you need me,” said Bersamin.

Bersamin also said that there were others eyeing his positions. An undisclosed number of people have submitted their applications to the President.

“Ang intriga di matatapos yan dahil ang daming naghahangad sa pwestong ito. I am not going to, ano ito, ipapako ko ang paa ko dito, hindi! I have just retired from government, substantial ang aking retirement. But for as long as the president needs me, I will be around,” said Bersamin.

(The intrigue will not end because a lot of people want this position. I am not going to, what is this, nail my feet to the ground here, no.  I have just retired from the government, my retirement is substantial. But for as long as the President needs me, I will be around.)

Bersamin had previously served as the Chair of the Government Service Insurance System, as well as Chief Justice.

Before him, Atty. Vic Rodrigues had served as Marcos’ Executive Secretary.
