MANILA, Philippines — An Indian man misrepresenting himself as an embassy official was arrested in Ilocos Norte on Tuesday, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported.
According to the BI, the suspect, identified as Prithes Das, falsely represents himself as a Chief Advisor at the Embassy of India in Manila.
“Indian authorities informed the BI that Das has been falsely representing himself as a Chief Advisor at the Embassy of India in Manila to deceive his victims in various fraudulent schemes,” the bureau said in a statement.

The BI noted that he was previously arrested in Baguio and had pending complaints in Davao City for similar offenses.
With a report from the Indian government about his crimes, Das was also found to be an undesirable alien.
The bureau also found him overstaying in the Philippines.
According to the BI, Das was arrested on Tuesday, September 26, through an operation coordinated with the Philippine National Police, Foreign Intelligence and Liaison Division, Regional Intelligence Unit, Provincial Intelligence Unit of Ilocos Sur, and other government intelligence units in Northern Luzon.
Das was transferred to the bureau’s Warden Facility in Bicutan, Taguig, and is now set to be deported and blacklisted.
