MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau raised flood alerts on Wednesday in Visayas and Mindanao due to rains brought by the trough of a low pressure area (LPA) located 1,000 km east of extreme northern Luzon.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, the rivers and tributaries in the following regions below may experience flooding:
Region IV-B (Mimaropa)
- Occidental Mindoro – Abra De Ilog, Caguray, Labangan, Lumintao, Anahawin, Monpong, Amnay, Pola, Pagbahan, Mamburao, Ibod, Bugsanga-Magbando
- Oriental Mindoro – Malaylay-Baco, Pulang Tubig, Mag-asawang Tubig, Butas, Pula, Agsalin, Bansud, Sumagui, Bongabong, Baroc, Bulalacao and Balete
- Palawan – Abongan, Lian, Barbakan, Rizal, Caramay, Langogan, Babuyan, Bacungan, Iwahig Penal, Inagauan, Aborlan, Malatgao, Apurauan, Baton-Baton, Aramaywan, Ihawig, Panitian, Pulot, Lamakan, Kinlugan, Eraan, Tiga Plan, Malabangan, Ilog, Bansang, Conduaga, Culasian, Iwahig (Brookes), Okayan, Canipaan, Busuanga, Coron
Region 8 (Eastern Visayas)
- Eastern Samar – Oras, Dolores, Ulot, Taft, Borongan, Suribao, Llorente, Balangiga, Sulat
- Leyte – Sangputan, Palo, Solano (Quilot), Daguitan Marabang, Cadac-an, Bongquirogon, Salug, Pagbangahan, Pagsangahan, Binahaan
- Southern Leyte – Bisay, Himbangan,Pandan
Region 13 (Caraga)
- Agusan Del Sur – Ojot, Wawa, Libang, Maosam, Kasilan, Gibong, Adgaoan, Simulao, Kayonan, Andanan
- Surigao Del Sur – Cantilan, Carac-An, Tandag, Tago, Hubo-Oteiza, Hinatuan, Bislig.
Pagasa likewise cautioned people living in risky areas such as mountainsides and low-lying lands, as well as their respective disaster risk reduction councils, to take necessary precautions.
