Manila cop convicted of homicide, physical injuries arrested

MANILA, Philippines — A Manila police officer who was convicted of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and physical injuries has been arrested, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Corporal Mark Manuel, a 40-year-old member of the Manila Police District (MPD), was arrested on Sept. 20 while on duty at MPD Police Station 1 in Tondo, Manila.

The arresting team was composed of members of IMEG and intelligence officers of the National Capital Region Police Office.

The warrant of arrest for Co was issued by Branch 29 of the Manila Regional Trial Court so that he could serve his sentence, which is a maximum of five years.

The suspect was temporarily detained at IMEG Headquarters Custodial Facility in Camp Crame in Quezon City for documentation before his turnover to the court that issued the arrest warrant.
