MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday proclaimed a new provincial board member for the fifth district of Cavite.

The Comelec Special Provincial Board of Canvassers (SPBOC) proclaimed Paolo Crisostomo as the new member of the fifth district of Cavite’s Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

“The proclamation was made on the basis of the June 14, 2022 Resolution of the Comelec First Division granting the Petition filed by Crisostomo, and the March 16, 2023 Writ of Execution, which directed, among others, the SPBOC to ‘count and canvass the votes for nuisance candidate Alvic Madlangsakay Poblete in favor of Petitioner Francisco Paolo Poblete Crisostomo,’ but to count only one vote in favor of Crisostomo in case there is a ballot ‘that contains votes in favor of both Francisco Paolo Poblete Crisostomo and … Alvic Madlangsakay Poblete,’” Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said.

Comelec said that with the amended Statement of Votes (SOV) Crisostomo, with 103,783 votes, joins Aidel Belamide, with 106,626 votes as members of the fifth district’s Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Belamide was proclaimed in 2022.
