MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau said that two low-pressure areas outside the Philippine area of responsibility and the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, are expected to bring rain over most parts of the country from Sunday night until Monday morning.
Although the LPA 400 kilometers (kms) north-northwest of Pagasa Island, Palawan exited PAR earlier Sunday, it would still enhance habagat, which will bring rains in western parts of Southern Luzon and Visayas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
On the other hand, the trough of the LPA, spotted more than 2,500 kms east of Northern Luzon, is also expected to affect and persist in the eastern portions of southern Luzon and Visayas for several days.
“Asahan pa rin ang mataas na tsansa ng pagulan over Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila dito rin sa malaking bahagi ng Mimaropa (Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) and Western Visayas sa susunod na 12 hours,” weather specialist Benison Estareja said in an afternoon forecast.

(We expect a high chance of rain showers over Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas in the next 12 hours.)
“Dito naman sa eastern part of Central Luzon, Calabarzon ( Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), Bicol Region natitirang bahagi ng Visayas at ilang parte ng Caraga region asahan din po ang maulap na kalangitan na sasamahan ng kalat kalat na pag ulan epekto ng trough or extension ng LPA sa malayong parte ng kalupaan,” he added.

(Here in the eastern part of Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, the rest of Visayas, and a large part of Caraga region, overcast skies, and scattered rain showers will prevail due to the trough or extension of the LPA located far from our landmass.)
Meanwhile, Estareja said no gale warning is currently raised in the country’s seaboards.
