The Naval Forces Central (Navforcen) kicked off its summer activity by conducting free circumcision (tuli) and giving haircut to at least 100 residents of barangay Bakilid in Mandaue City on Wednesday.
Navforcen chief Commodore Roberto Santos also turned over wheelchairs to Edwin Sacedor, Rose Marie Ycong and the father of Suzette Borces who was unable to come because of mild stroke.
Felicitas Ycong, mother of Rose Marie, thanked Navforcen for the wheelchair.
The younger Ycong was born with polio. Her mother said that the new wheelchair will replace the old one that was no longer usable.
“Amoa ni gamiton aron ilaag siya. Ganahan man gyud na siya nga ilaag (We will use this when we would bring her to the place she wanted. She really loved to go out and stroll),” the older Ycong said.
Also present during the turnover was Cebu 6th district Rep. Luigi Quisumbing.
The Marine reservists in Cebu also gave free porridge to the children and their parents.
Meanwhile, the Central Command (Centcom) opened its summer sports fest on Tuesday afternoon.
Centcom officers and personnel including civilian employees participated in the activities, which included tug-of-war, relay and sprint.
