MANILA, Philippines — A minor earthquake with a magnitude of 3.7 hit Davao Occidental on Wednesday evening.According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) earthquake bulletin on Thursday, the quake occurred at 6:05 p.m. in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.

Based on the agency’s earthquake information, it was originally tectonic and had a 53-kilometer depth of focus.

Phivolcs reported that Intensity II was felt in Jose Abad Santos, while Intensity I was in Don Marcelino, both in Davao Occidental.

Instrumental intensities were likewise recorded. Instrumental Intensity II was detected in Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental, and Instrumental Intensity I in Malungon, Sarangani.

The reported intensities were based on the shaking felt by people, while instrumental intensities were based on the ground acceleration detected by Phivolcs.

The agency indicated no damage was reported, and no aftershocks are expected as of this writing.
